PBA Local No.108 has been actively
petitioning the County of Union to assist Retired Sheriff's Officer Albert Ashmont with his situation regarding health
care coverage. Working with the Sheriff, the County Manager, and the Labor Relations Manager we were able to have the
Union County Freeholders introduce a resolution to provide a health benefit program for Union County employees that
have retired on accidental disability pensions. On February 14, 2008, the Union County Freeholders voted and approved
the following. (2008-176) CHAIRMAN ESTRADA, authorizing a Retiree Health
Benefit Program for Accidental Disability Pension Retirees effective
April 1, 2008 subject to certain terms and conditions. Retired Sheriff's Officer Ashmont was notified
of this development and expressed appreciation and gratitude in finally achieving this relief in medical insurance. PBA
Local No.108 thanks all the individuals that made this possible and would like to express our gratefulness towards the
Union County Freeholders for passing this important issue. The page containing this resolution from the February 14th
Union County Freeholders Meeting is below.
